Broaden Your Source of Information on Current Events

Before I climb down off my soapbox, I’d like to rant a little more on recent events.

Let’s take our duty as citizens seriously. Don’t always accept whatever a particular TV channel is pedaling, some are preaching to their choir only. Use that remote to surf around to other channels. I’m not saying you should twist and turn in the wind with each press of the remote button and change your point of view accordingly. I’m simply suggesting you balance what they have to say, and make an informed decision, based on fact (as close as you can get) not limited input or emotion. I came across a quote that seemed to define what we’re looking at right now in our country. Gore Vidal said,

As societies grow decadent, the language grow decadent, too. Words are used to disguise, not to illuminate, action; you liberate a city by destroying it. Words are to confuse, so that at election time people will solemnly vote against their own interests.
