Driver’s License: Here’s the information you need to obtain or renew a Montana driver’s license. The site is pretty comprehensive, and you should find everything you need.
When you click on Montana Driver License Manual, it will take you to a downloadable PDF copy of the manual—form # 25-1500. You will also find PDF forms for vehicle title and registration there, and applications for Power of Attorney, Disability Permit, Replacement Title, Release of Lien, Bill of Sale, Inspection Checklist For Motorcycles, among others. You will be able to download and print so you can fill them out manually; however, they cannot be submitted online.
Where to go? Montana allows you to take the test wherever you want in the state. On a more local level, the Ravalli County office is located at
102 Main St., Suite A
Office hours are
Monday: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

What documents do you need to take with you? Can’t find your birth certificate? If you were born in Montana, you lucked out. Download this form, fill it out, make sure you have all the required documentation, and traipse on down to the County Clerk and Recorder in Hamilton. If you get your mail at a PO box and don’t have proof of residency at a physical address, mail yourself a letter at that physical address. The office accepted mine.
Locally, you can replace a lost license at any driver exam station in Montana. If you’re out of state and lose or misplace your driver license, call 406) 444-4590 for the paperwork required. You will have to provide the same documents as you did initially.
